What Is CoolSculpting? What Should I Expect During Treatment?
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring procedure that uses a specialized cooling tool to freeze and kill stubborn fat cells. Patients may lose up to 25% of fat in targeted areas after just one treatment. During treatment, your CoolSculpting provider will use the patented CoolSculpting applicator to administer the freezing temperatures beneath your skin necessary to freeze and kill unwanted fat cells. Patients may experience a minor tingling, stinging, or aching sensation at the site of treatment, but any feelings of mild discomfort usually subside as the area becomes numb from the cold.
How Long Does CoolSculpting Take? When Should I See Results?
Every CoolSculpting patient and procedure performed at Sculpt My Bod are different. The amount of time needed for a treatment session will depend on which and how many areas of the body you plan to target. Treatment time could be as little as 35 minutes for a single area up to a few hours for multiple areas. CoolSculpting results are permanent – the targeted fat cells during a procedure are removed permanently. However, it will take about 1-3 months before your body flushes out the dead fat cells for visible fat reduction. It may take up to six months to see the final results from treatment. CoolSculpting will not prevent future fat cell accumulation elsewhere. Individual results from CoolSculpting fat reduction will vary, and it may take multiple treatment sessions to produce your desired results. Your CoolSculpting doctors will work with you to determine if further treatment sessions are needed.
Does CoolSculpting Remove Fat from All Over the Body?
CoolSculpting is most effective at removing fat from problem areas, such as love handles around the abdomen area, as well as fat bulges below the chin, thighs, buttocks, breasts, upper arms, flanks, and back. Both men and women of all ages see desirable results from CoolSculpting treatment when combined with healthy lifestyle changes, including exercising regularly and eating right.
Is CoolSculpting Safe? Are There Any Treatment Side Effects?
CoolSculpting uses state-of-the-art technology approved by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) to target and reduce fat in specific areas of the body. CoolSculpting is safe and non-invasive, with little to no downtime afterward. After a CoolSculpting procedure, you may notice temporary side effects around the site of treatment, which may include any of the following: swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, stinging, tingling, cramping, itching, aching, or firmness. You may be wondering what happens to the frozen fat cells during the procedure. They die and are removed through your body’s natural processes. However, this happens gradually, and you shouldn’t notice anything amiss as you go about your day-to-day. Most patients experience little to no recovery time and no scarring from CoolSculpting.
What Is the Cost of a CoolSculpting Procedure?
The average cost of CoolSculpting is between $2,000 and $4,000, but this will depend on your provider, what areas you’re targeting, and how many total treatment sessions you’ll need. At Sculpt My Bod, we’ll work with you to develop a personalized CoolSculpting treatment plan that works for your specific body and budget. Sometimes third-party financing options allow you to get CoolSculpting treatment without having to pay the full costs upfront out-of-pocket.
Does Medical Insurance Usually Cover CoolSculpting?
Because CoolSculpting is typically considered an elective cosmetic treatment, many insurance plans do not cover the cost of CoolSculpting. Always talk to your specific provider to determine the amount of coverage under your plan’s benefits. You may be able to qualify for third-party financing options as well.
How Do I Know If CoolSculpting Is Right for Me?
CoolSculpting should not be thought of as a substitute for a bariatric weight loss procedure. It is most effective for active, healthy adults who are close to their goal weight and wish to remove a few stubborn pockets of fat around their stomach, thighs, or sides. To determine if you’re an ideal CoolSculpting candidate, we urge you to reach out to us and schedule a free consultation at Sculpt My Bod.
